Heifer International Fundraiser

Heifer International is one of my favorite organizations, based on the idea that the best way to help people is to let them help first themselves, then their neighbors.

In the spring of 2009, Team LRK’s fundraising efforts raised over $12,000 for Heifer International, which was an incredible effort and has helped many people in need. Thank you to everyone who donated, both during the Fifteen Weeks of Bees and afterward.

Because our efforts during 2009 were so successful, we  decided to do a similar fundraiser for the Twenty Weeks of Buzz in Spring 2010 to celebrate the publication of the tenth Mary Russell book, The God of the Hive. With your help, we raised another $3000, for a grand total of nearly $18,000 raised for Heifer International.

In May 2010, I also drew a lucky winner from this spring’s donors to become a character in next year’s Russell & Holmes novel Pirate King:  Lonnie Brown, of Seattle. Congratulations, Lonnie: you’re a pirate!
