I'm not very good with this sort of thing so I'm trying it on to see if I can get these pictures attached here. The first two are the Sherlock Holmes Museum on Baker St. and the Baker St. sign on the corner by Regents Park.

Here are a couple of more shots. The tube station at Baker St., a row of Victorian houses behind Baker St., and The Embankment. Unfortunately some of my best pictures are too large and will need to be resized. I will have to go off and figure out how to do that before I can post them. It is always something with computers.

Very cool... though I admit to always picturing it like the Jeremy Brett series' entryway instead. I love the door though, so glossy and fancy! *grin* Thanks for the photos!

Glad you enjoyed the pictures I was able to send. I'm still struggling with resizing several pictures that I want to share.

Yes, I too visualize 221 B from the Granada Series, they did such a wonderful job with the re-creation of Baker St. It was a bit eerie walking Baker Street and thinking of it with hansom cabs, four wheelers, costermongers and such on the street. The width of the street was very much as represented in the Granada Series and is now a one-way street.

Well, with a little help from a friend I was able to resize these pictures for posting. The first was taken on Pall Mall just off Trafalgar Sq. and seemed perfect for Mycroft's rooms. Across the street was the Diogenes Club. The huge double oak doors with no sign on the ground floor and the bay windows with leaded glass on the first and second floors were a dead giveaway. Next is the statue of "The Great Detective" that stands at the entrance of the Baker Street Tube station. The last is the Sherlock Holmes Hotel on Baker St.

Lovely! The entryway to the museum gave me the shivers, for some reason--and I haven't even read the ACD stories (they might spoil LRK's Holmes for me). These remind me that I really, really need to get back to the UK. *Sigh*

One of our VBCers did a Russell tour--I'd love to get the itinerary for that. Maybe one day we could get enough VBC-folks up for such a tour. I already have my mental bags packed--woohoo!

We are already talking about a Sussex and Dartmoor tour in 2009. So much to see and do and so little time and money. LOL

Oooh--a potential 2009 tour, eh? It'll be here before we know it--must start saving my pennies.

England is expensive and London is staggeringly expensive, but worth it, IMHO. I haven't been there since 1996 and then for only 3 days. Before that it was the summer of 1967. I spent the summer in the UK and a month of that was in London. My carefree youth. It was great fun. ;)
