I'm just wondering if other folks find things in everyday life that relate to/remind them of Russell and Holmes?

For example, I was listening to the radio the other day and told my daughter the song reminded me of R&H. She asked why. It's a song by a band she likes called Hinder. I don't know the title, but one line in the chorus says something about him missing the way her hair touched his face. She said she'd never thought about it, but the Carrie Underwood song, Before He Cheats, reminds her of R&H because there's a line where she says, "I carved my name into his leather seats," and that makes her think of what Donleavy did to the cab seats in BEEK.

Anyone else have these things happen? If so, are you willing to share with the rest of us what triggers your R&H moments?

It must be "Better Than Me" :) I really miss your hair in my face, and the way your innocence tastes?

There are a lot of things that remind me of Russell/Holmes, but I can't remember them right now. :D Scones, for one.

Well....I did wonder why Buffy never realized just how great Giles was...

My most recent Russell and Holmes moment came on an excursion down a very narrow country lane with hedgerows on both sides and sheep in the fields and only room for the one car. While driving to Alnwick in Northumberland (way up north in England) my companion and I sort of took a wrong turn while following the directions of our in-car navigation system. We named her Sheila and she usually steered us in the right direction, but this time she took us off the A1 road and out into the wilds of the countryside, onto increasingly more narrow roads. Finally we were laughing ourselves silly when she had us turn onto a private road that was less than a lane, not even a track, I would say, and she announce "You have arrived at your destination." We hadn't actually and it was all my friend could do to back and fill to turn the long car around. We both were breathless with our laughter, but then we both mentioned the setting and the country lane was so Russell and Holmes in Sussex. I was a much better passenger than Holmes and didn't flinch when the hedgerows came oh so close to my side of the car. LOL.

I whole heartily recommend traveling in England with another fan of all things Russell and Holmes.

I'm afraid I would have taken it as the hand of Providence, and walked up to the residence. Maybe you were meant to meet whoever lived there! ;)

We didn't see any house, barn or any structure anywhere just a track marked private. We were also on our way to meet someone and couldn't spare the time. But, had there been a house it would have been tempting.

Sheila (our navigation system) let us down one other time bringing us up a alleyway and announcing we had arrived. She was correct our destination was on the other side of a tall block wall. We literally couldn't get there from were we were. We had to backtrack and go around to enter from the front, but she got us to the location, nevertheless.

Instead of Sheila, we call her Moneypenny (in a cheesy Sean Connery accent) or one brand offers John Cleese's voice with sarcastic remarks about your driving skill and/or intelligence. Funny how even in this side of the pond that english accent holds power.

Sheila had a bit of a lisp and would tell us "at the roundabout take the thecond turning." If we got it right she would say, "follow the road" if we were wrong she would calmly, but with a bit of exasperation in her tone say, "at the next convenient place, make a legal U turn." We became quite attached to Sheila and hated to say good-bye when we returned the rental car. :)

...How about going through a pile of old records that we found at our camp when we bought it years ago (I was trying to see if there was anything worth selling on e-bay)...and coming across an entire album of gypsy violin music !...that made for a good laugh!! ...and well yes, I did put it on just to see what it sounded like :)

Did you like it? I would have kept it. :)

I think most of the records ended up in the trash, but I did keep that one. It was interesting listening.
