I ran across this funny knitting pattern (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomknit/20991.html) for a Dr. Who iPod cozy and thought some of our many knitters might like it. Enjoy!

That is so clever! It is amazing what people come up with when sufficiently inspired. And it's so appropriate too!

Yah, I thought that was way cool!

In the comments, one person mentioned that she'd crocheted her niece a tribble, so I asked about that pattern. I can't knit, but I can crochet, and I'd love to do one of those. </geek>

Oh that sounds so cool! Several of my friends are also trek fans and tribbles would make great presents for the holidays this year :) Although my friends sew none of them have taken up crochet yet :)

I do not knit, or have an ipod for that matter, but I think this is the coolest thing I have seen in a very long time. I'm a Doctor Who fan from back in the 70s when Tom Baker was the Doctor. The concept of when an actor became bored with the show the doctor just reincarnates into another person always amused me, only the Brits would come up with that. :)

Yah! It's almost worth learning to knit *and* getting an iPod for.

Oh and I found the tribble pattern (http://mirawyncrafts.blogspot.com/2007/10/make-your-own-tribble.html)! Wahooo! That would make a great present for the Trek fans in my life.

Have any of you seen the cool Harry Potter patterns that fans have created?

I've made a few cool Dark Mark items (like a scarf (http://thestormmoon.blogspot.com/2007/05/dark-mark-illusion-scarf-pattern.html)and bag (http://www.freewebs.com/theloveplant/knitting/darkmarkbag.html)) plus a few others (like this house crest bag (http://www.rosemarywaits.com/2007/08/02/hp-house-fair-isle-pouch-bags/))

People are so talented, it's amazing.:)

Wow--those are great! I like all of them, but that Dark Mark Scarf is especially impressive and v. scary looking! If you made those, you must be very good at knitting! I followed one of the links to the storm moon yarn shop and they have some beautiful stuff. Expensive, but if you're really good at knitting and are making something special, it might be worth shelling out for something so pretty.

Actually, the scarf is much easier than you would think (you just need to know how to knit and purl and be able to follow a grid, really) I would definitely recommend it to a more beginning knitter:) The part that really got me stuck was sewing a lining for the bags...alas I cannot sew to save my life so I had to ask my roommate's mother to help me out.

I'll definitely have to check out that yarn shop! I've been wanting to learn socks of late, so some nice sock yarn would be cool:)

Melikes this...completely random..but my dh is a logical, no nonsense, doesn't read fictionitsanutterwasteoftime kinda guy. He doesn't like science fiction, fantasy, anything like that...He won't read it or watch it t'all. So I was taking a break and helping him with some matters and happened to flip on the tele and Dr. Who was on. I got all giddy and he acquised....so we started watching it and he started laughing to no end. Then he got all serious and said...this is utterly silly...this is stupid but funny...really funny.

it was a miracle...he liked it. I recalled trying to get him to watch the ninth doctor and he buckled. Yet, he liked Tennant (I'm a 9th doctor fan myself). I told him yay we'll be watching more in the future. He groaned, but continued to laugh through the program. However, I apparently went too far with Torchwood...whoops...Kiss kiss bang bang was a little too much for him I think and as soon as Cap't Jack and his x met well...*blushes*...regardless I 'avent seen a kiss that steamy in ages....jeez oh pete...
