I spent a blissful few hours in the Portland, Powell's in early Nov. last year and when my son gets married next Oct. the ceremony will be at a hotel just blocks away. I intend to spend a great deal of time in Powell's when I'm not doing wedding things. The hotel is to die for, BTW, built in the early 1900 and all wood and elegance inside.

I've been wanting desperately to get up to Powells ever since I heard about it a few months ago. It's like the book lover's mecca! And I found an awesome weekend deal on Travelocity; $250 for a weekend up to Portland! Now I just have to figure out a time...

Powells and Strands in NYC are my cocaine...when I have extra cash. DH has been known to spend $200plus in one perusing :eek: !

Wait until next year...hahahahaha! They'll be so many Holmes books and biographies in this flat he'll go mad!!!! :cool:

I had no idea that Powells was so big! I have ordered from them several times due to not being ablt to find books elsewhere. I am impressed!
