Here are the few pictures I took last night at Ms. King's book signing for Touchstone. The venue was the Bookshop in Santa Cruz, CA and the heavens opened up just before the talk, making it a dark and stormy night. My account of the signing is posted in Announcements, under the tread about Ms. King appearing on the radio show and questions wanted.

I particularly like the "I can't believe I'm really standing here next to Laurie" look on your face!:D

I'm sure I'd have even more of the deer in the headlights look if it was me.

I particularly like the "I can't believe I'm really standing here next to Laurie" look on your face!:D Yep, that was how it felt. Sidebar -- a friend has just emailed me having seen this picture and wanted to know what division of the Star Trek Federation a fuchsia tunic designated (she's correct I do look like I'm wearing the old style uniform -- but it was warm and that's what I needed). I told her either the entertainment or accounting. Both are just crazy enough to carry off fuchsia.

Now that you mention it, the black pin does sort of give it the communicator look. Heehee. That'd be cool if you had a transporter, though. "Scotty, beam me up to the next tour venue!" :D As penance, maybe you should do a Holmes-and-Kirk-meet AU drabble. Ooooh, or better yet, a Holmes and Spock logic face-off. LOL!!!! (Bad, bad Nikki [smacks hands for typing such a thing])

On a serious note, I'm very glad you went and had such a nice time. I hope you can come to B'Con this fall so we can all run around and get into trouble together, er, umm...get to know each other better. Yeah, that's what I meant to say.

Nikki

As for the other, I'm not into AU as I have voiced elsewhere, so not going to happen. I wouldn't even know where to start. We had better stop before we get our hands slapped. **darts eyes around** ;)

Now come clean SC. You really wore the fuchsia top to tie in with your avatar!

Ruthie:DAvatar is me in a hot pink sweater set, this fluffy tunic is another top altogether. What can I say, I like bright colors. LOL :D The avatar was photo-shopped by a friend for my 60th BD. She took a picture of me showing off a long black scarf and placed me between Edward Hardwicke as Watson and Jeremy Brett as Holmes. Holmes is pointing and my husband captioned the shot, "Oh look, Watson, boobs." You have to know my husband, not your usual CPA. ;)

I already slapped my own hands. Just saving Vicki the trouble, you know. :o

Oooh--great pictures--and you *do* have SC!

Hey--I like the hot pink Trek look! </geek> There was a little girl in my Sunday School class last year who had your exact coloring and she always wore something hot pink every Sunday, which was a very lively and distinctive look, I thought. That picture made me think of her.

a Holmes and Spock logic face-off.

The sheer force of their combined brain-waves would melt everything within a 100-yd radius, I'm afraid.

I'm so glad that you went and had a great time, Alice! Thanks so much for posting the pictures--I'm now off to read your report! :)

Pardon me while I wipe the coffee I just snorted off the keyboard!

O, lordie me. SC, I did laugh so loud about "look, Watson.." that I had to cover my mouth to avoid disrupting the slumbering spouse. Great Job with the photos. I entirely know what you mean about deer in headlights. I went to the launch for Locked Rooms by dint of rearranging my trip to England in 05 and was so excited and generally nuts that my photo image is "we do not think of ourselves as a codfish" except that's exactly what I looked like. You, in contrast, appear quite rational! Laurie was, as usual, graciousness itself. She is much prettier in person than she appears in photos etc. This sounds sappy but is simply true; her personality & wit shine through. --Meredith T.

Karen B and Meredith47, I'm pleased I could make you laugh, although spewing on your keyboard or waking a sleeping spouse might not be the best of ideas. My avatar is so tiny it is hard to see that my hands disappear behind Watson and Holmes and another friend questioned me at length as to where my hands were placed. I told her to use her imagination. ;) Photo Shop allows us to live out our fantasies.

Strawberrry Curls!
What fun to meet Ms. King! And to have the shots to prove it! I love that fuscia statement. Can't look at it too long, but still.... I bet Ms. King loves meeting her devoted fans as well. How do we get her to come to Madison? We have a murder mystery book store ("Booked for Murder") that would be the most perfect spot for her! So nice of you to share your fun. Come to think of it, that fuscia looks as if it could generate its own heat!

These are really nifty (I dunno know if I told you before; I think I do on that other site which can't be mentioned here :) )! You both like marvaleous - simply marvaleous.

You had to have been over the moon :)!

I love Laurie's style too!
