I recently had a great discussion and re-bonding experience with a lifetime friend and my God-daughter (currently studying journalism via literature) about Frankenstein. My God-daughter’s class used the “The Annotated Frankenstein”, and discovered how much there is to think and talk about in this classic. I think an “Annotated Secret Garden” would be an excellent follow-up for us to explore together.

That is exciting! I always loved that book. I hope I rememeber to get a copy!

I read that for the first time just recently. It was checked out of the library amongst ten other books by an ambitios 7 year-old I knew she wouldn't get to it so I couldn't let a perfectly good book go to waste. What a great story! Can I sign up for the discussion, too? I promise I'll read it to the child as well.

Sure Kriddle, I’ll keep you in mind, we have postponed The Secret Garden and selected Withering Heights instead. It was one of my God-daughters current assignments and I have never read it. If all goes well we might do The Secret Garden next month. I’ll let you know.

Be sure to read Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next series in which the Bookworld attempts anger management intervention among the characters of Wuthering Heights...it's a hoot for adults, although I'm not sure anyone under 15 or 16 would appreciate the humor.
