I'm a blogger, a newspaperman, an editor and a Bouchercon virgin, though it embarrasses me to use at least one of those terms in public. I'll look forward to meeting many of you in Baltimore.

Blogger??????

:D

This will also be my first time at Bouchercon as well. I am thrilled that I will be in the middle of a whole bunch of mystery lovers. And a gaggle of VBCers as well. Woo hoo.

I'll feel foolish when you answer this, no doubt, but what's VBC? Virtual book club?

I have mixed feeling about the word "blogger," too, but that's a matter for discussion elsewhere.

Peter,

There are no foolish questions around here as long as they are asked with sincerity!

Yes, VBC is the Virtual Book Club.
LRK is Laurie.
LOM is the Letters of Mary fiction group.
And....all of Laurie's books have shorthand as well. BEEK is "The Beekeeper's Apprentice", for example.

I will be at the Thursday 8:30 am panel "Bouchercon 101". Seems like a good way to get acclimated.

Hi, Peter. This will be my first B'Con (short for...well, you get the idea) and I'm looking forward to meeting many people I have become aquainted with through their posts and their username. It's going to be a busy few days.

Oh, and welcome to the VBC. --Alice

BTW LOM (Letters Of Mary) (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Letters_Of_Mary) is a yahoo group for Russell/Holmes fanfiction, and the discussion of all things Russell and Holmes. Check it out. If you have any questions send me a PM (Private Mail) or send an email.

Hi Peter and welcome to our VBC. I'm sure you are going to have a great time at B'con, only wish I could join you all. Oh well, there's always next time! :)

I'm more embarrassed to be a newspaperman than to be a blogger, more embarrassed by the sound of the word blogger than the sound of the word newspaperman.

Thanks, all. I was a bit slow figuring out what VBC stood for since I came to the group looking for a simple Bouchercon bulletin board.

I'll look forward to meeting more authors, editors, agents and regular folks at Bouchercon. And if any of you should happen to be in Philadelphia Wednesday on your way to Baltimore, I can meet even more of you, and you can meet two of Bouchercon's best in a (possibly) less hectic setting: http://detectivesbeyondborders.blogspot.com/2008/10/noir-at-bar-break-on-way-to-bouchercon.html

I'm Felicia Donovan, author of the Barry Award-nominated BLACK WIDOW AGENCY Series, so I will most certainly be in attendance at the Awards Ceremonies. I'll be on the "Stop, I'm Already Dead" panel on Fri at 10PM where I hope to squeeze in a mention of my latest book: CYBER CRIME FIGHTERS: TALES FROM THE TRENCHES. Hope to meet and see many of you.
