Hello All,
I'm sorry to say that Tony Hillerman, author of the Navajo mysteries has passed away. He was 83 years old. He will be very missed.
Rest in peace Tony Hillerman. Thank you for bringing us Joe Leaphorn, Jim Chee, and the great insights into the Navajo, Hopi, and other Native American people. Walk in Beauty. Bless you.
Best,
Linda
I hope I put this in the right place.

Thank you for giving us this sad news, Linda. I hadn't yet heard it. Just a few days ago I was hoping that we would have another book from Tony Hillerman. He will be sadly missed.
I learned especially from Jim Chee's conversations with Janet Pete in Sacred Clowns and The Fallen Man: "I grew up knowing it's wrong to have more than you need, it means you're not taking care of your people. Win three races in a row, you better slow down a little. Let somebody else win" (TFM, p270).
Also, Leaphorn saying of Chee, "He is Navajo. He won't want revenge, but harmony." We need more of that spirit.

Hi Pat,
I completely agree. Thanks for the nice quotes from Jim and Joe. We need that harmony desperately. I'm sorry to have just posted his passing that way. I should've realized that some might not have had the chance to hear about his passing. Usually I'm the last to hear things! I just wanted to post a little memorial.
I will miss him.
Best to you, Ms Pat.

I'm sorry to hear of his passing. I also enjoyed his Leaphorn and Chee novels and recently read and highly recommend his Memoir entitled "Seldom Disappointed". He was a wonderful person with an evolved spirit.
