This is a beautiful, unexpected, whimsical scuplture by the artist Elizabeth Duffy. HONEYCOMB!!!!!

What a lovely sculpture, and how difficult it must have been to construct from notebook hole reinforcements. It resembles a very complex paper wasp nest.

The first one I saw was kinda creepy as the first thing I thought of was wasp's nest, don't like, but the hive was interesting, I liked the look of that.

I really liked the wasps' nests, the Swarm made of pencil points and the honeycomb. Wasps are social creatures who won't sting us unless they feel threatened, but if they choose to nest on ones front porch that creates a problem.

Hmmm, I've always found wasps more aggressive than bees, (not counting those aggressive 'killer bees' - I've heard about but don't think I've encountered - well maybe one, but I think someone else pissed off that bee before it found me).

Wasps probably are more aggressive than bees. I've had most trouble with yellow jackets, probably because they nest in the ground, love soft drinks, and picnics often violate their territory.

oops forgot about those bothersome yellow jackets - agree wholeheartedly - they move to top of -to be avoided list!

I have only been stung by wasps,or is it yellow jackets, but I am becoming allergic to them and will arm my self with cans of poison in the summer to shoot down their nest with no regret on my part, karma? I am fine with bees and enjoy seeing them.

Allergic reactions to insect stings are truly dangerous. Keep antihistamines with you and take immediately if you get a sting. Advice about snake bites at day camp was to do nothing since we could reach a hospital emergency room in half an hour, but with kids allergic to insect stings thirty minutes might be too late.

Hi Pat,
I have started to keep antihistamines around because affected area swells about twice size and becomes burning hot and itchy. The antihistamines at least keep the burning and itchiness away, my hand last year looked like a latex glove balloon.

Keep on taking care of yourself and get medical advice if you need it. As I understand it, reactions get worse with every sting. We don't want to lose you.

Thanks Pat! Usually after I get stung I come running into the house looking agonized and let my family take care of me. If I were alone I would just come in grumpy and head straight for the ice pack and medication.:p
