I admit I don't know all there is to know about the secrets behind Mary Russell, but I have seen many of the secrets in Mary Russell's life. My friend Judy and I have walked in her footsteps in San Francisco, from her house in Pacific Heights to the Ferry Building. Last summer we traveled around southern England and South Wales discovering all the wonderful places Russell and Holmes have dwelt in. From Sussex Downs to the High Street in Oxford we wandered through the books with zest. We even ate what they ate whenever possible, although I learned I don't like steak and kidney pie. Next on the pilgrimage is India. We are looking forward to the experiencing new food and a new culture. If lucky we will even cruise the Med, pass through the Suez Canal and travel around to Mumbai. Not bad for a bookseller and ELL coordinator.

The Russell travel plan sounds to-die-for cool. What a fun and amazing thing to do! I know who we need to call if we ever want to put any Mary Russell travel-tours together. Maybe you can post a sample itinerary and suggestions for dining, etc, when you get a chance, so as to lend some inspiration to some of the Russellphiles out there.

I have all these sparkly tour-thoughts in my brain now. :)
